I’ve been starting a campaign in Adcenter and just getting a feel of the flow in both the adcenter web interface and the adcenter desktop tool. Here are just some rambling findings about it.
1. Adcenter Web Interface Error Message
I was trying to check my keywords performance and was returned with this page saying that adcenter was “experiencing problems”. It was back to normal again in a minute or two which I believe was probably a glitch in the system.
2. Support for other web browsers
The adcenter web interface at http://adcenter.microsoft.com works fine in Internet Explorer and Mozila Firefox but failed to even login using Opera or Google Chrome. Not sure what’s happening but I suspect it’s because of the ajax (or silverlight?) whizbang they are using on the site?
3. 10,000 keywords limit per adgroup
As found out previously, this is sometimes (if not always) simply not enough!
4. Adcenter Desktop Import Export Utility
In the web interface, there’s more control of what you’re importing and exporting. It’s either a campaign(s), adgroup(s) or keyword(s). But it appears to me that the desktop tool can only import and export a full campaign containing the adgroups and keywords.
The probem arise when someone asks this question: “What if I want to import more adgoup/keywords into an exisiting campaign/adgroup using the desktop tool”? Nope, you can’t do it (even if you use the adcenter import campaign/adgroups/keywords template) and it seems currently you just have to do that in the web interface.
Well at least there’s progress from Microsoft and have to say that the adcenter desktop tool looks impressive (adwords editor is still the best though) and still has room for improvement but it’s better then having nothing as in the case of Yahoo Search Marketing.
