Let the celebration begins as Google is now officially in the affiliate marketing business. After acquiring the Doubleclick brand, Google is ready to do some consolidation and expanding into the affiliate marketing arena.

Using Google Affiliate Network, participating website publishers will get paid a fee for each referral that results in a sale. However, the service isn’t integrated into Google AdSense yet and publishers and advertisers still have to set up separate accounts. An integration with AdSense could add a contextual element to the affiliate ads placed through the network.

Free Open Source Click Tracking Tools

Here’s a free tool that can help you in understanding what users click on your webpage. ClickHeat is a visual heatmap of clicks on a HTML page, showing hot and cold click zones. And since it’s free, you get to host it on your own server and keep all of the recorded data.

Included features are:
– Low logging activity: a very few function calls to log a click, no server load rise should be noticed (have a look at Performance & optimization)
– A keyword is used to define the page upon Javascript code load, allowing you to group same pages.

Adwords Quality Score: Not Rocket Science

I’ve seen so many people, so called SEO, affiliate marketers and bla bla bla wrote long long explanations and stories about google adword’s quality score.

But in fact, it’s just something really easy to understand. Just take the google adwords quiz!

As you can see, the answer is pretty simple, to have a good quality score, first thing you can do is to improve your Clickthrough Rate (CTR) by writing targeted keywords ads (+ landing pages) so that you can have a good history of keyword performance down the track.

The Biggest Problem With Amazon Affiliate Program

Here are some reasons why some people thinks that Amazon Affiliate Program is not good as it used to be:

1. Late last year, they dropped the cookie lifetime from 30 days to 1 day.

2. The starting affiliate pay is only 4% (although that can be increased to 6.5% based on how many sales volume you can generate for them).

3. There is no one central affiliate portal where you can promote products for other countries. That is, if you singup for amazon associates US (you will know that when you have an id ending with -20), you won’t get any product details from the UK).

What if you were to promote products for the UK market? Well, you would have to signup for amazon associates UK. Not only will you get a different ID, but also different payment structure.

Point 1 is probably the main issue for affiliates. Most affiliate programs pay at least 10% with a cookie of 30 days. Many of our earnings in affiliate programs are going to be made from purchases 10 or 30 days down the line after a user has clicked the link. So cookies are an important part keeping track who refered customers to the merchant, so affiliates can be paid for referring customers to their site.

What Is A Squeeze Page

In Internet and online advertising vernacular, a squeeze page is a Web page that contains information that would interest the marketer’s targeted readers. Squeeze pages are designed to obtain a reader’s name and e-mail address information by encouraging users to opt-in to an e-mail list to receive more information about the topic. Marketers will collect the permission-based e-mail and information to follow up at a later date.

Currently, there is still some debate over the actual definition of a squeeze page.
