The word “slug” was probably popularized by wordpress thanks to its ability to build pretty looking urls or permalinks for all of your post title.
Cakephp has a class known as Inflector and a slug method which does the same thing to help you get a pretty looking slug for any text strings you pass into it. Here’s how.

Back when Oracle decided to acquire Sun (who had previously acquired MySQL), there were people who were concerned about the future of MySQL, myself included.
Just installed Visual Studio 2010 and it now comes with a relatively new language known as F# which emphasizes on so called “functional programming”. For those who are interested to get started with F#, there’s a sample project code at msdn. Have fun!

A NULL column is different from an empty column.
INSERT INTO TableName (ColumName) values (NULL);
INSERT INTO TableName (ColumName) values ('');[sql]
The second will insert an empty string into ColumName. A SELECT query would be as easy as
[sql]SELECT * from TableName where ColumnName = '';While to query for the column with the NULL value, we have to write the SELECT query as such:
SELECT * from TableName where ColumnName is NULL;
Apple Flash is not supported on any iPod, iPhone and iPad and never will be. I hear lots of people complaining about that for obscure reasons such as can’t play flash games and watch youtube videos bla bla bla. Personally I’m damn glad that Apple decided to ditched Flash support and instead choosing to embrace open technologies such as HTML 5, CSS and javascript.

I was thinking about registering a new domain name today to develop a new website. Since the domain name might include branded trademarks, I need to be sure that I won’t be sued or have my site being transfered to the trademark owner if it happens that my domain name does contain certain trademark terms.

Cakephp uses a custom extension for its view files (*.ctp in 1.2.x and *.thtml in 1.1.x). Notepad++ doesn’t recognize these files by default and thus no color coding will be presented when they are opened. The following tip enables that.
