Fresh off the shelf is Adwords Display Ads where you can build your own display ads by just providing your own text, images, logo and then selecting your ad format from over 40 professionally designed templates.
Hmm… didn’t someone say before that text ads are more effective then display/banner ads due to the ad blindness thingy? Having said that, we obviously wn’t know before doing any testing.

Remember last time we discussed how Adsense and Analytics might come together one day? Apparently Google is serious about it and it has now been officially confirmed at the adsense blog.
Basically the adsense report in Analytics will contain ten metrics such as earnings, ctr, ecpm etc which are nothing new and are already available in adsense publisher report overview. The extra meat is in the graphical charts within analytics which you could use to plot out click and traffic trends to find out which page are getting you the most amount of clicks (thus revenue) and which referrals are pointing more “visitors who click” to your page.

Getting relevant and quality inbound links is an important factor in gaining pagerank according to Google Webmaster Central Blog. Just a note though that getting “dofollow” inbound links contribute more sauce to a site’s pagerank.

For newcomers, Google Webmasters Tools allows you to submit your sitemap to help search engines’ spiders recognize, crawl and index your site’s content which is one of the most basic thing you should do in other to attract traffic from the search engines.

The Obama campaign has bought one month of billboard ads in popular EA titles including Burnout Paradise, Madden 09, Nascar 09, NHL 09 and Skate. The ads let gamers know that pre-poll voting is underway and will run up until election eve on Xbox Live when gamers in 10 US states play each other.

So I was doing a keyword search on Google for a popular anti spyware application and was returned with this bizarre sponsored ads.
The best part of this is (apart from laughing out loud) :
1. It’a a dead link (destination url is dead!)
2. It’s was on the first sponsored link on the right hand side of the SERP for a highly popular and competitive anti-spyware keyword!
3. How that got through the adwords editorial guideline is an answer i’m still seeking.
Looks like someone is testing free adwords credits/coupons or he/she has some real cash to burn. And it’s obviously targeting the wrong geographic too!
I know that all 3 major search engines doesn’t like gambling, pharmaceutical and adult related content but did you know that Microsoft Adcenter mentions explicitly that they are against free offers and sweepstakes too?
