Tried upgrading wordpress today and got an error message quoting
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2356995 bytes) in /pathtoaccount/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1331
The problem can be easily solved by doing one of the following:
1) Edit wp-config.php and add a new line
define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’);
This worked for me and is the simplest solution.
2) If you have access to your PHP.ini file, change the line in PHP.ini
If your line shows 32M try 64M:
memory_limit = 64M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (64MB)
3) If you don’t have access to PHP.ini try adding this to an .htaccess file:
php_value memory_limit 64M
