It’s really easy to hack the login password of Windows XP. This trick can be useful if you forgot what your login password is and want to change it so you can login again. I actually had this experience when I was trying to use my laptop which was deserted for almost a year. Forgot password = Can’t login. But there’s always a solution.
Hacking Windows XP Login Password
1. Restart your computer and keep pressing F8.
2. From the menu, select boot in safe mode with command prompt.
3. once you’re at the command prompt, type “net users” (without quotes)
4. You will see a list of usernames. Pick the username that you are using and type “net users username *” (without quotes, replace username with a real username from that username list)
5. You will be asked to enter a new password and a second reconfirmation.
6. Press enter and you will be told that your username password has been changed successfully.
Easy, wasn’t it?

I have real problems as purchased a batch of PCs and given password doesn’t work, tried every trick I know, even the new gadget on Amazon USB unlock password, failed miserably. XP SP3 unfortunately.

Unless of course there’s other stuff on the PCs that you need a clean install of XP is usually a good thing! I would probably do that anyways… (Gave up rather quickly on my SP3 hack for the same reason)

On SP3 version update this access was permanently blocked, and all the usual work around using command prompt etc. Sorry only way now is to reload Windows, but you will loose all your programs. Using a Windows recovery doesn’t work either now, unless you did a Password backup disc.

Doesn’t work anymore blocked by Microsoft on SP3 update.

The user I am trying to get into has a space in it and since I put a space then it is like a whole new entity. I have tried to add a underscore, brackets, and quotation marks.

Just tried a dozen “hacks” to get into my old pc and nothing works. Safe mode with command prompt takes me to a “start windows” highlighted box with no other choices ( although safe mode w/ command is in blue letters the bottom of the screen). Pure frustration and exasperation!

Same here…have you gotten into yours? I have no idea what to do the computer is a Dell from 2003 – forever ago!

Hi
a simple way is one of the Linux Boot sticks/CDs with ntunlock in oit (PartedMagic e.g.), on the professional side is the CIA Commander or an old ERD Commander. With a WinPE Stick boot and use “salas password renew” while pointing the startup directory to the Windows directory (where it grabs the SAM db file (usually c:\windows\system32\config\SAM)) and changes it.
I use it for all Windows Systems to unlock users or to get an service account
Cheers
Sam
